Olivia’s Last Night In Venice Selected For Fade To Black Festival 2021

Daysha’s newest 10-min play, Olivia’s Last Night In Venice, was selected for the 2021 Fade To Black Playwriting Festival.

Fade To Black is Houston's first national play festival to showcase the new works of African American playwrights.

Each year they select ten finalists from around the U.S. and produced their plays before a live audience. On the last day of the festival, a grand prize winning playwright (chosen by audience votes) is announced.

This year’s festival will take place January 6-8, 2022.

Olivia’s Last Night In Venice is an imaginative prequel of Shakespeare’s Othello that follows Othello’s sister, Olivia, the night before returning to their home country in the bedroom of Othello’s secret lover, Desdemona, to make one final plea.

It is available to read on New Play Exchange here.
